The Nebraska Crime Stoppers began operations on January 2, 1989 with a statewide, toll-free telephone number for anonymous tipsters to share the information they know with law enforcement. The Nebraska Crime Stoppers Board is comprised of citizens, law enforcement, and media members. The state program was developed with a dual purpose in mind. First, to establish a network which allowed for anonymous reporting of crime tips, and provide a cash reward for useful information. Second, to assist communities interested in establishing local crime stoppers programs across the Nebraska.
